Why Are My Brakes Squeaking, Honking, Crying ect.?
One of the most common complaints I hear as a mechanic is that brakes won’t stay quiet. Several factors can cause this, and the fix depends on the type of braking system. Across all common bicycle brake designs, the squeal comes from the pads grabbing and slipping against the rim or rotor hundreds of times per second, producing a high-pitched vibration. Water or contaminants make the pads slicker, increasing the likelihood of this resonance.

Common Brake Issues We Fix On Site
Most brake problems riders notice on the trail or road are quick fixes for our mobile repair van. Typical on-site fixes include:

Brake rub from a caliper shifting slightly out of alignment.
