Our Pedal it Forward Program
Pedal It Forward is our community initiative to keep kids riding safely regardless of a family’s budget. Donations to this program go directly toward free tune-ups and safety checks for children’s bikes, as well as providing free helmets to kids who need them. Every contribution helps a young rider stay safe, confident, and active. If you choose to donate, you’re directly supporting families in our community and making cycling more accessible for everyone.
What Your Donation Provides
Your donation creates immediate, real impact for kids in our community. Every $30 contribution provides one free child-size helmet or one complete kids’ bike tune-up. This keeps brains safe and brakes working smoothly. Each donation goes straight toward the cost of the helmet or the parts needed to repair a child’s bike. The amount doesn’t come close to covering our full labor costs, so we match every contribution by donating all shop labor ourselves. This way, your support and our hands-on work combine to get more kids riding safely.
Who Qualifies for Free Service?
This program is designed for families in the Tacoma area who may not have the budget for basic bike repairs or a safe, properly fitted helmet for their kids. Any child who relies on a bike for transportation, play, or school, but doesn’t have access to regular maintenance, qualifies. We prioritize kids whose bikes are unsafe due to worn brakes, loose parts, or flat tires. Our goal is to be able to give a free helmet to any child who needs one. How to Contribute
Donations are made in $30 increments, with each $30 providing either a new kids’ helmet or a complete tune-up for a child’s bike. You can contribute through the donation link below or by adding a contribution when checking out in person. Every dollar goes directly toward helmets, parts, and materials. If you’d rather donate a gently used kids’ bike, we’ll gladly refurbish it and give it away at no cost to the family. Your support keeps more kids riding safely.
