April kept us on our toes. Between events, presentations, a bike swap, and more helmets distributed than we've ever handed out in a single month, it's safe to say our first (official) month open was a busy one!

Here's a look at everything we got up to this past month. But first, bike pics :)

Daffodil Classic — April 4th

We kicked off the month at the Tacoma Washington Bicycle Club's Daffodil Classic ride. We graciously accepted Bob's invitation to stop by and see what the Club is all about. Everyone was pleased to see the Club's largest turnout in quite some time! We enjoyed meeting some riders and getting a feel for how the local cycling community is feeling this season. A great way to start April!

Sticky Bidon Circuit Race Series + Edgeworks Member Social — April 7th

April 7th was an action-packed doubleheader. Our evening started out at Pacific Raceways where the excitement was palpable. This was the first event of the season for the Sticky Bidon Circuit Race Series, where we'll be providing neutral technical support all season long. Energy was high, the sun was out, and the pelotons were whooshing.

Next up: the Edgeworks member social. It's no secret that the worlds of climbing and biking collide, and this event felt like a natural step to connect with our local climbing gym.

TWBC Library Presentation — April 14th

Another lovely invite from TWBC—this time to present at their monthly meeting!

We talked about what Bespoke is, who we serve, and why we built this the way we did: a fully mobile service that comes to you, designed to lower the barriers to getting on a bike and staying on one. We learned the history of affordable helmets in the Tacoma area, answered some fantastic questions about our service model, and learned about the real-life challenges and barriers that impact our neighbors.

Pierce County Parks Earth Day Celebration — April 18th

Yes, this wasn't technically on Earth Day, but that didn't stop the community from showing up at Meridian Habitat Park. At times, it seemed like there were more dogs than humans! We had a great time stamping kiddos' event 'passports' and encouraging the family-friendly spirit. Helmets were sized, bikes were assessed, and great conversations about supporting sustainability were had!

Ride Together Pierce Bike Swap — April 25th

Well, this event sure felt like the cherry on top of a great month. Ride Together Pierce's Annual Bike Swap was a blast, and the numbers speak for themselves:

  • 6 refurbished bikes sold — each one going home with someone who needed it

  • 91 helmets distributed at the event alone

This brought our monthly total to 101 helmets in April — and each one represents someone who's safer on a bike than they were before.

Looking Ahead to May

May is already shaping up to be even busier. We'll be at the South Sound Sustainability Expo at UW Tacoma on May 2nd, the Cascade Bicycle Club Ride for Major Taylor on May 3rd, and Bike Everywhere Day at People's Park on May 17th. Bike Month is here, and we're ready!

As always, if you need a tune-up, repair, or just want to talk bikes, book online or reach out directly. We'll come to you.
